Forgotten Eagles give annual donation

MARQUETTE – The Forgotten Eagles Chapter 1 recently made their annual donation of $6,000 to the Jacobetti Home in Marquette for 2012.

The Eagles used the VFW Post 4420 hall for an annual chili cook off to raise $700 of the donation. Les Fetters won first place; Les Henry, second place and Sally Henry third place. Dick Henry won 50-50 raffle. Most of the money won was donated back to the Forgotten Eagles.

The money raised will go to veterans who need help in Manistique and elsewhere.

Art center seeking art, artists for craft fair

MANISTIQUE – The Lake Effect Community Arts Center is currently accepting artist and artisan applications for participation in its annual Manistique Art and Craft Fair on July 6. The fair is held in conjunction with the Manistique Independence Day Celebration and will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LEC President Sue Robishaw said due to construction at the Manistique Marina, the fair has been moved to the recently renovated and improved Central Park on Maple Street/M-94, just north of downtown.

“The location offers plenty of amenities,” Robishaw said. “It’s a wonderful setting with ample parking. We anticipate this will be our best fair ever.”

She noted there are a limited number of spaces for artists and crafters available.

“They’re on a first come, first served basis,” she said. “So anyone interested should register early.”

The 10x10 foot spaces are available for $35 each. Artists may also share a booth, as long as both register. Non-profit groups are also welcome and are invited to exhibit for $20 per booth space.

Additional information, show rules and registration forms are available at www.lakeeffectarts.org or by calling (906) 450-5777 or (906) 283-1001. Registration may be done online or by mail.
