Awards handed out at rifle and pistol club

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Rifle and Pistol Club recently held its annual .22 Pistol League Championship.

The league championship was won by the team of Bill Larson, Ed Hines, Mike Burkholder and Matt Weber.

Second in team competition was Nick LaFave, Jim LaFave, Elmer Brazeau and Rocky Chartier. The team of Mike Glass, Bill Fries, Kevin Demers and Matt Silkworth finished third.

For the sixth year in a row, the “Top Gun” trophy in the league was awarded to Mark Knoebel.

Other championship results were as follows:

Masters Division: first place, Ted Hentschell; second place, Kevin DeMars; third place, Ryan Weber; fourth place, Mike Glass.

Expert Division: first place, Jake Verbunker; second place, Nick LaFave; third place, Rocky Chartier; fourth place, Jim La- Fave.

Sharpshooter Division: first place, Bill Fries; second place, Matt Silkworth; third place, Tom Bronz; fourth place, Josh Hentschell.

Marksman Division: first place, Justin Blandford; second place, Elmer Brazeau; third place, Lane Blandford, fourth place, Robin LaCroix.

This year’s award for most improved shooter went to Matt Silkworth.

League membership is not required to shoot. The club offers ranges for shotguns, pistols, rifles and archery, and offers beginners a safe shooting experience.

The Manistique Rifle and Pistol Club is located nine miles north of Manistique on Highway M-94.
