League plans dinner

Legislative dinner to recognize advocates

IRON MOUNTAIN – The Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion Posts will sponsor a “Legislative Dinner” on April 27 at the American Legion Post 50 in Iron Mountain. The event is open to the public.

The dinner will recognize elected legislators and their continued attention to veterans’ issues.

Emcee for the dinner and roast of legislators is Patrick Lafferty, adjutant, American Legion Department of Michigan.

The evening will begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner served at 7 p.m. The cost is $20; tickets may be purchased in advance at Post 50 or by calling (906) 774-5707.

11th District meeting, April 20, at Rapid River Post 301, 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow.

12th District Meeting, May 4, L’Anse Post 144 11 a.m. with lunch to follow.

The U.P. Association Summer Convention, Menominee Post 146, June 14-15.

There will also be the 2013 Department of Michigan American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Convention, set to take place at the Kewadin Casino Sault Ste. Marie from June 26-30. This convention is hosted by the U.P. Association Convention.
