Students vie for top spots

MANISTIQUE – St. Francis de Sales Catholic School recently hosted the Upper Peninsula Community Education Association 2013 Regional Spelling Bee. Participating schools were Manistique and Big Bay de Noc. Winners were:

Fifth Grade:

First place: Maddie Schwartz, Manistique; Second place: Katie Troyer, Manistique; Third place: Nicole Parrish, Big Bay de Noc; Fourth place: Aerianne Spriks, Big Bay de Noc.

Sixth Grade:

First place: Kassidy Salter, Big Bay de Noc; Second place: Lee Lee, Manistique; Third place: Lauren Denney, Manistique; Fourth place: Sandra Middaugh, Big Bay de Noc.

Seventh Grade:

First place: Alexis Russell, Manistique; Second place: Zach Matchinski, Manistique; Third place: Dawson Damer, Big Bay de Noc; Fourth place: Tyler Spencer, Big Bay de Noc.

Eighth Grade:

First place: Rayna Sherbinow, Manistique; Second place: Abby Schwartz, Manistique; Third place: Zach Middaugh, Big Bay de Noc.
