Successful annual Snowfest celebration

Pioneer Tribune photos MANISTIQUE - A total of 28 brave souls took to the streets in the third annual Frosty 5K Run and Walk last Saturday. The race was part of the city of Manistique’s annual SnoFest celebration, which included the Little Jiggers Kids’ Fishing Derby on Quarry Lake in Central Park and ended with a Rock and Roll Skate at Little Bear West Arena.

With her time of 22:10, Kimber Pierzchalski of Newberry finished first in the female division.

David Partyka of Manistique paced the male division, finishing in 20:18.

While runners were positioning themselves for the final leg of the Frosty 5K, the Little Jiggers took over the ice at Quarry Lake.

Over 200 holes were drilled by workers from the Manistique Department of Public Works, who began at daybreak.

Following registration, the 133 anglers took to the lake, and with the fish biting better than last year.

A great day in the outdoors was had by all.

When the final tally was in, C.J. Nedeau took the top prize in the 8-16 division.

Second place went to Cole Demars followed by Christian Aldrich, Kaylee Hoholik and Matthew Wood.

Hauling in the best catch in the seven and under division was D.J. Belleville.
