Junior H. Gray
Junior H. Gray, 80 of Bergland, Mich., died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born on March 2, 1932, in Manistique, Mich., son of the late Edwin and Tillie (Erickson) Gray. Junior graduated from Manistique High School and joined the National Guard in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 and was a Bronze Star recipient for his actions at Porkchop Hill.
On Feb. 19, 1955, Junior married Marie Kasbohm in Manistique. Shortly afterward, he started work at the White Pine Copper Mine, where he worked for 37 years.
Junior was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland, the Desrosier-Windnagle American Legion Post 562 in Bergland and enjoyed many outdoor activities.
He is survived by two sons, William (Jane) and Lawrence (Rose); two daughters, Kathleen (Aaron) Kuhlow and Karen (Michael) Hagen; 10 grandchildren, Peter, Nicole, Matthew, Jennifer, Kassie, Andrea, Leah, Adam, Megan and Sarah; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Virginia Simi, Marion Zuel, and Marlene Peterson; sisterin law, Alice (Tutti) Gray. He is also survived by his former wife, Marie; his friend and constant companion, Wilma List, and her family, who he loved as his own.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland, with the Rev. Tim Steckling officiating.
Spring interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bergland, with military honors presented by American Legion Post 562 and the Ontonagon County Veterans Association.
Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church are requested.
