Winners in bee to advance

Manistique, Big Bay
students head to finals

MANISTIQUE – The regional level Spelling Bee was held on Feb. 25, with students in grades 5-8 competing. Those students finishing in first or second place at the district level spelling bee in January competed.

Districts represented included Manistique and Big Bay de Noc. Results are as follows:

Fifth grade:

First place: Maddie Schwartz, Manistique; Second place: Katie Troyer, Manistique.

Sixth grade:

First place: Kassidy Salter, Big Bay de Noc; Second place: Lee Lee, Manistique.

Seventh grade:

First place: Alexis Russell, Manistique; Second place: Zach Matchinski, Manistique.

Eighth grade:

First place: Abby Schwartz, Manistique; Second place: Rayna Sherbinow. Manistique.

These students now move on to the next level, the U.P. Finals, which will be held on March 13, in Ishpeming.
