Snofest set to kick off

Frosty 5K, derby to take place Saturday

MANISTIQUE – The annual Little Jiggers Kids Fishing Derby and Frosty 5K, part of the city’s “SnoFest” will take place this weekend. The events had been postponed last month due to excess snowfall.

The events kick off Saturday, with registration for the Frosty 5K beginning at 9 a.m. The race will begin at 10 a.m., and participants will depart from Central Park. An awards ceremony will take place in the park at 11:30 a.m. following the race.

Registration for the Little Jiggers Kids Fishing Derby will also take place at 9 a.m., with fishing taking place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Cost per pre-drilled hole is $5, with a limit of three holes per participant. Minnows will be provided and prizes awarded.

A “Rock ’N Roll Skate”, sponsored by Y.E.T.I., will be held at the Little Bear West Arena. Kids ages 12 and under can skate free of charge from 4:30 – 6 p.m., while high school students may skate from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. for $5 per person.
