James W. Marks

James W. Marks, 73, of Freeman Road, Manistique, Mich., died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at his son Fred’s home in Hiawatha Township.

He was born April 6, 1939, in Manistique, the son of Harry and Anna (Nagel) Marks. He attended Manistique area schools and was a graduate of Manistique High School.

From 1959-1962 he served in the U.S. Army seeing duty in Germany.

Jim was employed by the State of Michigan in the park service for 19 years and later in department of corrections for 13 years until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling, and having coffee at Clyde’s Drive-In. He enjoyed his retirement, being able to spend time with family and friends.

Jim is survived by his son,

Fredrick J. Marks of Manistique; daughters, Tammy S. Marks of Manistique and Tonya J. Marks of Wrightstown, Wis.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at Messier Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
