Anglers successful at McDonald Lake derby


No one left empty handed Sunday at the McDonald Lake Ice Fishing Derby. After two days of fishing, all the children registered received a participation trophy along with an ice fishing kit. GULLIVER – Registration at the 14th annual McDonald Lake Ice Fishing Derby last weekend included 235 adults and 96 children, all of whom hit the ice for the two day event that came to a close Sunday afternoon. Following two days of fishing, a number of prizes and awards were distributed.

Winners were and prizes were:

Kids Perch

First place: Keith Fisher, 11 inches, .6 pound; trophy, mount and $50 gift card for Top O’ Lake Sport Shop from State Savings Bank.

Second place: Dominic Morcello, 9.5 inches, .3 pound; trophy, mount and $50 gift card for Top O’ Lake Sport Shop from Paul’s Plumbing.

In addition to gift cards and mounts for the winners, all 83 children present at the awards ceremony received a participation trophy donated by Top-O-Lake Sport Shop and an ice fishing kit.

First place mounts were donated by Tails and Scales Taxidermy of McMillan, Mich.

Adults- Perch

First place: Mason McDaniel, 11 5/8 inches, .7 pounds, $370 plus $100 from mBank.

Second place: Ryan McLear, 10.5 inches, .6 pounds, $220.

Third place: Emily Nord, 10.375 inches, .4 pounds, $150.

Fourth place: Mike Rosebush, 10.25 inches, .4 pounds, $50.

Walleye

First place: John Rahn, 24.25 inches, 5.5 pounds, $370 plus $100 from mBank.

Second place, John Nord, 21.75 nches, 3.6 pounds, $220.

Third place: Emily Nord, 21.5 inches, 3.6 pounds, $150.

Fourth place: Mike Youngblood, 18.75 inches, 1.7 pounds, $50.

Pike

First place: George Price, 33 inches, 6.6 pounds, $370 plus $100 from mBank.

Second place: Jim Meffer, 32.125 inches, 7.6 pounds, $220.

Third place: Dave Rosebush, 31.5 inches, 6.3 pounds, $150.

Fourth place: Sherri Jenerou, 30.125 inches, 5.8 pounds, $50.
