Community Orchestra rehearsal scheduled

MANISTIQUE - The Manistique Community Orchestra will have their first rehearsal on March 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the First Baptist Church at 319 Walnut St. in Manistique.

New musicians who love to play at all skill levels are welcome to attend. Strings and flutes are still needed.

Bay announces fall semester degrees

ESCANABA – Bay de Noc Community College has announced students who earned degrees and certificates upon completion of the 2012 fall semester.

Graduating with an associate’s in accounting/computer specialist was Shena Martinez of Manistique.

Graduating with an associate’s degree in computer information systems: software/network support was Joshua Brewster of Manistique.

Receiving an associate’s in arts degree was Emily Lucas of Garden; as well as Danielle Miller and Kandi Palmiter of Manistique.

Permits needed to plow roads in forest

GLADSTONE – The Hiawatha National Forest is reminding residents who plow a road within the forest’s boundaries to obtain a free permit in order to legally remove snow.

Individuals who are planning on plowing snow on roads within the jurisdiction of the Hiawatha National Forest are required to obtain a permit before beginning work. The permits are free and will provide guidance and specifications.
