‘Walk’ still on, others postponed

Walk for Warmth set for Sat., Frosty 5K, Little Jiggers delayed

MANISTIQUE – The annual Little Jiggers Kids Fishing Derby and Frosty 5K, part of the city’s “SnoFest” have been rescheduled for March 9, due to recent snow accumulation. The events had been scheduled to take place Saturday in Manistique.

The Walk for Warmth, along with a “free skate” event are still scheduled to take place Saturday.

The day kicks off with the Walk for Warmth breakfast, for both walkers and non-walkers, taking place from 7:30 – 9 a.m. at the Manistique Senior Citizen Center. The breakfast is free, but donations are encouraged, and all proceeds will also be used to help Schoolcraft County residents experiencing trouble paying home heating bills.

The walk will then begin at 9 a.m., starting and ending at the center, at 101 Main St.

Later in the day, a free Rock ’n Roll Skate will be available to children ages 12 and under at the Little Bear West Arena. The event is sponsored by the teen group Y.E.T.I and will take place from 4:30 – 6 p.m.

A separate skate for Manistique High School students will take place from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., with an admission fee of $5 per person.
