Local MRSP meeting to be held on Feb. 13

MANISTIQUE – The February meeting for the Michigan Retired School Personnel will be held at the Blanchard Center on Deer Street at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 13

The luncheon will include a program presented by the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter.

Members are asked to bring items for the shelter. Items that would be appreciated are bleach, paper towels, Dawn dish soap, laundry soap marked HE and gift certificates from Jack’s and Petique.

Amity Group meeting to include appraisals

MANISTIQUE - The Manistique Amity Group will hold an antique appraisal conducted by Doug LaFoille at their monthly meeting on Feb. 13. The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church on Oak Street in Manistique.

Members are invited to bring one or two items for LaFoille to appraise and discuss.

Donations for Good Neighbor Services will also be collected.

Alma announces 2012 fall term Dean’s List

ALMA, Mich. -- Alma College is pleased to announce the names of those students who earned Dean’s List honors for outstanding academic performance during the 2012 fall term. Students who achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average during a term, while carrying a minimum of 13 credits, at least eight of which are evaluative grades, are named to the Dean’s List.

Making the list were: Lauren Burton of Germfask; Cody Kayser and Kayla Tuttle of Manistique; and Emily Graves of Shingleton.

One winner for Feb. 5 Mega Millions drawing

LANSING – One ticket from Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing matched all six numbers of 02-05-10-26-44 and the Mega Ball 46. The announcement meant one player woke up $19 million richer.

The only catch – you would have had to purchase your ticket in the Upper Peninsula.

The ticket was sold in the extreme north on the Keweenaw Peninsula at the Festival Foods on Highway M26 in Houghton.

The winner must contact the Lottery’s Public Relations Division at (517)373-1237 to set up an appointment to claim the prize.
