Snofest has activities for all

Residents have opportunity to Walk for Warmth, run 5-K, fish and skate

MANISTIQUE - There will be a bustling of activities going on at Central Park on Feb. 23 when the City of Manistique Recreation Department holds their Snofest.

There will be activities for all outdoor enthusiasts starting at 9 a.m.

The annual Walk for Warmth Fundraiser will hold a breakfast from 7:30 - 9 a.m.at the Manistique Senior Citizen Center located at 101 Main St. The walk will start from the center at 9 a.m.

The Frosty 5-K Run/Walk will take off at 10 a.m. Late registrations will be taken starting at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Little Bear West Arena. Advanced registration is $15. Registration on the day of the event will be $25. A copy of the registration form can be found on page B3 of this week’s Pioneer-Tribune. Forms can be downloaded from www.cityofmanistique.org under the download heading, requested from the City of Manistique Recreation Director Bill Pohlman at manistiquerecreation@live.com or picked up at City Hall at 300 N. Maple St.

The Little Jiggers Kids Fishing Derby will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration for the derby begins at 9 a.m. at Central Park.

Pre-drilled holes with minnows provided are $5per hole. There is a limit of three holes.

Prizes and more are being planned.

Activities will also be going on at Little Bear West Arena in the afternoon and evening.

A Rock n Roll Skate will take pA Rock n Roll Skate will take place from 4:30-6 p.m. Youth 12 years and under will have a free skate sponsored by Yeti.

From 6:30-9:30 p.m. there will be a Rock n Roll Skate for the high school. The cost for participation is $5.
