Cheer squad edged out by penalty

MUNISING - Still struggling with penalties in the second round, the varsity competitive cheer squad participated in the UP Cheer Classic in Munising Saturday, taking third with 701.1800.

Had the Emeralds not received the penalty in round two, they would have filled the first place slot by .60. Iron Mountain took that honor with a three round score of $708.58. Munising came in a narrow second with 707.46. A reversal of the Kingsford outcome when Munising edged out Iron Mountain for first.

The middle school squad took fourth with a score of 340.8000.

Varsity will compete in Grand Rapids on Saturday.
