Gillis to offer pitching lessons to softballers

RAPID RIVER – Doug Gillis will be offering pitching lessons in Rapid River. All lessons will be one hour in length, with four students at a time.

Each student’s pitching technique will be videotaped for critique, with tips and drills being suggested for practice. All training will be held at Rapid River High School. Cost is $45 per session.

Girl softball players of all ages and all skill levels of experience may attend. Dates for lessons are: Feb. 7, 5-9 p.m.; Feb. 8, 4-9 p.m.; March 8, 5-9 p.m.; March 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; March 29, 1-6 p.m. and March 30, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Gillis is a six-time member of team USA, winning a gold medal in 2002 and a silver medal in 2003 Pan Am games.

Sportsman alliance plans quarterly meet

ESCANABA – The Upper Peninsula Sportsman Alliance will hold its next quarterly meeting on April 13, at 10 a.m. at the Great Lakes Sport and recreation Club in Escanaba.
