Richard H. Martin

Richard H. Martin, 65, of Manistique, Mich., died unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

He was born March 10, 1947, in Manistique, the son of the late Antoine “Tiny” and Viola “Jean” (Hastings) Martin and attended Manistique area schools. He was a graduate of Manistique High School with the Class of 1965. The day after high school graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Richard has lived most of his life in Florida, and moved to Manistique in 2010.

He was of Methodist faith and was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie

Tribe of Chippewa Indians and Sault Tribe Elders.

Richard is survived by two daughters; sister, Sharon

(Cliff) Martin-Barber of Manistique; brothers, Tony (Julie) Martin of Manistique and Larry (Cindy) Martin of Santee, Calif.; along with nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and burial will be held in the spring in the Veterans Section of Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Kidney Foundation.
