Charles V. Dyer


Charles V. Dyer Charles V. Dyer Charles V. Dyer, 91, of 501 N. Houghton Ave., Manistique, Mich., died Jan. 9, 2013, at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.

He was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Calspar, Mich., the son of Charles and Anna (LaFreniere) Dyer and attended Manistique area schools. He was a graduate of Manistique High School.

On July 6, 1942, he married the former Fredreika “Fritzy” Jordan in Munising, Mich. They made their home and raised their family in Manistique.

Charlie was employed as a machinist at Manistique Tool and Die Company for many years.

He attended the Church of the Redeemer-Presbyterian in Manistique. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, playing cards and spending time at the cottage at Indian Lake. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Charlie is survived by his son, Richard “Jim” (Cindy) Dyer of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jon Ott, Andrea (Robert) Smith, Christopher (Beth) Ott, Darin (Stephanie) Dyer and Amy (Mike) Orosz; eight great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Philip Ott of L’Anse; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sally Ott; brother, John Dyer; and sisters, Evelyn Dyer, Anna Mae Geib, Eva Petty and Mary Danielson.

Visitation was held from 3-5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, at Messier Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. A memorial service followed at 5 p.m., at the funeral home with Reverend Ingmar Levin officiating.
