Education lab to host winter event

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Township Environmental Education Lab will offer its annual “Super Saturday” snowshoeing and winter hiking on Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to public.

“This year we’ve added some new enticements,” said Environmental Lab Board Committee Chair Doug Smith. “One lucky individual will win a pair of snowshoes provided by Iverson’s Snowshoes and Furniture of Shingleton. Geocachers will also be winners.”

Snowshoes and geocaching kits will be available free of charge.

“Even if there is no snow, the laboratory offers an incredible opportunity to see the woods in wintertime,” Smith added. “It’s a beautiful place in every season and the winter months are no exception. Winter is a great time to see wildlife tracks and explore new ways to see the outdoors.”

The lab is located in Manistique Township, about three miles east of Manistique.
