Organizers gearing up for local Walk for Warmth

MANISTIQUE – The Schoolcraft County Walk for Warmth will take place on Feb. 23 in Manistique. All proceeds raised in Schoolcraft County go to Schoolcraft County residents.

The event will feature a breakfast for both walkers and non-walkers, which will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Manistique Senior Citizens Center and conclude before the 9 a.m. walk. The breakfast is free, but donations are encouraged, and all proceeds will also be used to help Schoolcraft County residents experiencing trouble paying home heating bills.

The Walk for Warmth will start and end at the Manistique Senior Center, 101 Main St.

A Schoolcraft County Walk for Warmth pledge sheet may be obtained by residents, businesses, churches, classrooms and community groups.

Pledge sheets are available at the Community Action Agency office in the Schoolcraft County Courthouse or may be downloaded at the agency’s website, www.mdscaa.org.

Schoolcraft County residents who need help with home heating bills can call (906) 341-2452 or email dtyrrell@mdscaa.org.
