Annual Father-Daughter Dance set for Feb. 9

MANISTIQUE – Tickets are now available for the eighth annual Father-Daughter Dance, hosted by the Manistique Area Kiwanis Club. The event will take place on Feb. 9 at the First Baptist Church.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Missoula Children’s Theatre. This year’s performances will take place on July 27. A twoperson MCT team will arrive July 22 and hold auditions to fill approximately 60 parts for a musical version of “The Tortoise Versus the Hare”.

Tickets for the Father-Daughter Dance, a semi-formal event, are $40 for each dad and daughter pair and $10 for each additional daughter.

Only 45 tickets are available. They can be purchased at the Manistique Radio Center or by contacting Christi Ryan at (906) 286-3521 or Bob and Judy Sands at (906) 341-6507.

There is no age limit for the event. The evening will begin with a social hour at 5 p.m. There will be non-alcoholic beverages available, as well as games and activities. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by dancing until 9:30 p.m.

Choral Society seeks leadership nominations

MARQUETTE – The Marquette Choral Society is seeking nominations for its 2013 U.P. Choral Leadership Award. The nomination deadline is Feb. 11 and the winner will be announced at the Choral Society Spring Concerts on April 27 and 28 at Reynolds Recital Hall at NMU.

Nominations must be submitted in writing, and show the nominee has provided at least 10 years service to choral music in the Upper Peninsula, and demonstrated excellence in teaching, conducting, and/or support for quality choral music in the U.P.

The award may be presented posthumously.
