Foster grandparents plan in-service meet

MANISTIQUE – The Schoolcraft County Foster Grandparents program will be having an in-service meeting on Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Manistique Senior Center.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

Chamber announces light contest winners

MANISTIQUE – The Schoolcraft County Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of its 2012 Christmas Lighting Contest.

The winners are:

Residential Division

First place: Jim Barham, 1015N River Rd.

Second place: Austin and Patti Swayer, 1886N Merwin Creek Rd.

Third Place: Kayla Casey, 527 Alger Ave.

Commercial Division

First place: Big Boy, 607 E. Lakeshore Dr.

Second place: Peoples Store, 239 N. Cedar St.

Third place: Limestone Federal Credit Union, 131 River St.

Monthly meeting set for Snowmobile Assoc.

MANISTIQUE – The monthly Schoolcraft Snowmobile Association meeting will be Jan 17, at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse on New Delta Ave.

All members are invited to attend and new members are welcome.

Legion posts to hold mid-winter conference

STAMBAUGH – The Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion Posts will hold their midwinter conference at the Reino Post #21, in Stambaugh on Jan. 18 and 19.

Registration for the two day conference begins at 3 p.m. on Jan. 18.

Choral society seeks singers for concert

MARQUETTE – Rehearsals for the Marquette Choral Society Spring Concerts begin on Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Choral Room of the Thomas Fine Arts Building of Northern Michigan University. Concerts will take place on April 27 and 28 at Reynolds Recital Hall.

The spring program will be taken from the “Chantry Choirbook”.

The choral society is open to all interested singers; no audition is necessary. Singers may join any time during the first three rehearsals, up until Jan. 28. There is a fee for music and membership.
