Robert J. Videtich

Robert J. Videtich, 82, of 256 N. Cedar St., Manistique, Mich., passed away quietly at his home amongst his loving family on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012.

He was born May 22, 1930, in Manistique, the son of Matt and Catherine (Barr) Videtich. He attended St. Francis de Sales School and was a graduate of Manistique High School with the Class of 1948.

During the Korean Conflict, he proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was honorably discharged as a Sgt. Bob sailed the great lakes for a number of years following military duty.

On Jan. 18, 1958, he married the former Wilma D. Hellsten in Manistique. They made their home a raised their family in Manistique.

For 38 years, Bob was the owner/ proprietor of the King Koin Launderette and Dry Cleaners in Manistique. He retired in 2000.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and bird watching. He was a hard worker, spending many hours at his business but also enjoyed fixing things and tinkering at home.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wilma D. Videtich of Manistique; children, Donald Videtich of Ionia, Mich., and Susan Videtich of Manistique; grandchildren, Ryan Videtich of Ionia and Jillian (Nate) Videtich of Ionia; and great-grandson, Hudson Hawley of Ionia; along with nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Videtich; and sister, Katherine Dorman.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique with Father Glenn Theoret officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.

Memorial donations may be directed to St. Francis de Sales Church or to St. Francis de Sales School.
