GARDEN – Shiloh S. LaButte, 17, of Garden, has recently enlisted into the Michigan National Guard under the Guard’s Split Training Option. PV2 LaButte attended basic training in June at Fort Leonardwood, Mo.
LaButte is currently a senior at Big Bay de Noc High School and, upon graduation, will attend her Advanced Individual Training for her job skill at Fort Leonardwood.
Upon completion of her advanced training, she will be assigned to the 46th Military Police Company in Cheboygan as Military Police.
LaButte’s future plans include continuing education at Northern Michigan University and its ROTC program.
Shiloh is the daughter of Tom and Anna LaButte of Garden.
Luoma included on Cooley’s dean’s list
MUNISING – Cooley Law School recently released its spring/ summer 2012 Dean’s List.
Andrew Luoma, of Munising, was included on the list and honor roll, obtaining all “A’s” for the term.
Andrew is the son of 93rd District Court Judge Mark Luoma and his wife, Jean, of Munising.
Society recognizes Oman for schoolwork
MANISTIQUE – The Catholic Holy Family Society recently recognized St. Francis de Sales fourth grade teacher Auna Oman for her work.
The selection was based on demonstrated traits, countless hours devoted to students, and after school sports. Oman has spent summers in India, where she has taught and worked with the less fortunate.
Oman was honored at her home parish in Ralph, Mich., with a Mass and award ceremony.
