Teresa A. Wilson
She was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Fairport, Mich., the daughter of Richard and Jennie (Lewis) Collins. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Escanaba, Mich., and later St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Bloomington, Ill. Teresa was employed as a registered nurse in Bloomington.
On June 4, 1949, the former Teresa A. Collins married Chester D. Wilson in Fayette, Mich. They made their home and raised their family in Bloomington, and moved to Manistique in 1990. Chet preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 2009.
Teresa was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique, St. Anne’s Altar Society, St. Joseph’s School of Nursing Alumni Association, American Red Cross, and Daughter’s of Isabella. She enjoyed reading, knitting and gardening.
Teresa is survived by her sons, John (Peggy) Wilson of Bloomington, Tom (Judy) Wilson of Hopedale, Ill., Joe (Jan) Wilson of Bloomington, David (Julie) Wilson of Prescott, Ariz., and Will (Colleen) Wilson of Prescott; daughters, Julia Wilson of Manistique, Mary Wilson of Reno, Nev., Marty (John) Power of Bloomington, and Libby (Ryan) Reiman of Prescott; 17 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; brothers, James (Ione) Collins of Garden, Mich., and Jude (Barbara) Collins of Manistique; sisters, Miriam (John) Smith of Escanaba, Rosalie (George) Ferruccio of East Greenwich, R.I., Sr. Regine Collins, SSND of Elm Grove, Wis., Pauline Cleary of Manistique, Rita (Charles) Mendez of Washington, DC, and Eleanor (Bob) Thibault of Rapid River, Mich.; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerard (Eddee) Collins; and sisters, Bonnie (Mike) Janowski and Catherine (Fred) Polka.
Visitation will be held from 10:30- 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, at the church with Father Glenn Theoret officiating. Burial will be held in Hiawatha Township Cemetery at Manistique.
