Elsie M. England Elsie M. England Elsie M. England, 86, of 110 Main St., Apt. 7, Manistique, Mich., passed away surround by her loving family, on Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2012, at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.

Elsie was born April 18, 1926, in Germfask, Mich., the daughter of the late Earl and Olive (Topper) Smith. She was a lifetime resident of Germfask and for 31 years was a winter resident of Harlingen, Texas.

She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years as a clerk in Germfask and later as Postmaster in Gulliver. Elsie enjoyed her family, frequenting the casinos, cooking, baking, square dancing, playing cards and traveling.

Elsie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Leonard England of Manistique; children, Grace (Neil) Parris of Cape Coral, Fla., Gloria (Jim) Hartzog of N. Ft Myers, Fla., Earl Holbrook of Newberry, Mich., and Barb Roach of Cape Coral; stepchildren,

Sue (Paul) Blake of Pittsburg, Pa.; Nancy Kingsbury of Brimley, Mich.; and Rebecca (Terry) McLaren of Munising, Mich.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and brother, George (Delores) Smith of Gulliver.

In addition to her parents, Earl and Olive Smith, Elsie was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Alexander; grandsons, Charles Holbrook IV and Wayne McGahan II; brother, Gordon Smith; and sister, Alma Thibideau.

Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 21, at Messier- Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. A memorial service followed at 2 p.m., with Pastor J.D. Livermore officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Germfask.
