Sheriff’s news and notes
Editor’s note: The Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Department makes weekly submissions, reporting news and activities from the office. Activities are generally broken down into those occurring in the jail and those in individual townships. Other information may include jail information, such as the number of bookings and average jail population. Not all activities are reported.
Nov. 25 – Dec. 8, 2012
During the reporting period, the average daily population was 21.36 inmates, with the highest count being 24 and lowest being 19 inmates. There were 20 inmates booked into jail, while 26 were released. Of those booked into jail, seven are male, three are females, zero were juvenile, three were charged with felonies, five were charged with misdemeanors, and two were jailed for alcohol related offenses.
Of those released, one inmate was taken to Marquette Branch Prison to begin serving a prison term.
Currently, on Dec. 10, there are 19 inmates housed in the jail, four of which are female.
CIVIL PROCESS SERVICE
During the reporting period, 23 pieces of civil process were served throughout the county.
No jail incidents were reported during the period.
The sheriff’s office had the following other activity during the reporting period: one medical alert received, two persons fingerprinted for concealed pistol licenses, two persons fingerprinted for other reasons, nine gun registrations, and three animal complaints.
