Local champions crowned

MANISTIQUE – Three boys and three girls, ages 8-13, won the first round of competition in the Elks “Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest” held at Manistique High School on Dec. 1.

First place trophies were awarded to the following boys and girls in each of the three categories:

Girls, ages 8-9: Maddi Bosanic

Boys, ages 8-9: Aidan Neeson

Girls, ages 10-11: Brooke Richey

Boys, ages 10-11: Kenton Lauzon

Girls, ages 12-13: Renea Schuetter

Boys, ages 12-13: Tyler Herro

The six champions will now advance to the district contest at Ishpeming High school on Dec. 15, and compete against lodge champions from other lodges across the Upper Peninsula.
