Commodity food program distribution set

MANISTIQUE – The Menominee, Delta, Schoolcraft Community Action Agency will hold a distribution of the Family Commodity Food Program for those who qualify during the week of Dec. 10, depending on site locations. The “Quarterly Distribution” is available to those at 200 percent of Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.

Local distribution dates are:

Garden: Dec. 12, from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Garden Community Center.

Manistique: Dec. 13, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Manistique V.F.W. Hall.

Germfask: Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Germfask Township Hall.

Pre-registration is not necessary and is based on a self declaration process. Quantities are limited and all products are available on a first come first serve basis. A list of items is not available. If you need more information, contact the Community Action Agency at (906) 786-7080.

GFWC plans Christmas Scholarship Auction

MANISTIQUE – The GFWC Manistique Women’s Club will hold its annual Christmas Scholarship Auction on Dec 13. The event will take place at noon in the Comfort Inn.

Featured auction items include arts, crafts and baked goods. The public is welcome.

Tickets for the luncheon are $10 and are available at the Peoples Store through noon on Dec. 10. Attendees must present tickets at the luncheon and no reservations or ticket sales will be accepted after the deadline. New members are welcome, for more information call 341-2863 or 341-1899.

Amity Group to hold meeting, special program

MANISTIQUE – The December meeting of the Manistique Amity Group will take place on Dec. 12. The meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Manistique.

The program will be presented by Gerry Decker, who will be discussing household helpful tips. Members are encouraged to share home remedies and to bring donations for the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter.
