James W. Newton

James W. Newton, 85, of N4547 S. Gould City Road, Gould City, Mich., died Nov. 26, 2012, at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique, Mich.

He was born March 20, 1927, in Marquette, Mich., the son of the late Jenny Nettie Newton.

James was a boilermaker by trade, and had been an active member of the Shriners, Masons, Odd Fellows, V.F.W, Moose Lodge, Eagles, American Legion, and Boilermakers Union.

James is survived by his sons. James S. Newton of Garden Grove, Calif., and Robert A. Newton; his daughter, Lois M. Wagner of Casper, Wyo.; brothers, George McNeil of Gould City, and Harry McNeil of Comstock, Mich.; sisters, Mary Mc- Farland of Milford, Mich., and Aurilla Peterson of Riverside, Cali.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for this upcoming summer with burial to be held in Newton Township Cemetery at Gould City.

Messier-Broullire Funeral Home of Manistique is assisting the family with arrangements.
