Arbutus M. Snyder
DeeDee was born April 21, 1925, in Marquette, Mich., to the late Homer and Ida (Desotelle) Roy. On June 4, 1941, she married Leo J. Snyder in Marquette. Leo preceded her in death on June 13, 1985.
Over the years she cooked in the Heinz Camp, cleaned homes and cabins and was a receptionist at the Hair & Sun Spot. DeeDee loved cooking and caring for her family, baking, playing cards and watching her birds and deer in the backyard. She especially loved her deer hunting.
DeeDee is survived by three daughters, Patsy (Claude) Wilcox of Suring, Wis., Nancy (Dean) Miller of Gillett, Wis., and Wanda (Michael) McKenzie of Gulliver.; son-in-law, Stanley Zellar of Gulliver; sister-inlaw,
Eileen (Ephriam) Cobb, 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren, and 11 greatgreat grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, DeeDee was preceded in death by her son, Larry Snyder; daughter, Joanne Zellar; great-grandson, Peter Wilcox; special friend, Calvin Johnson; brothers, Norman Roy and Louis Roy; sisters, Florence Heminger, Pearl Tweedale, Genevieve Hamill and Lillian Stites; brother-in-laws, Swede Snyder, Robert Snyder, and Vernon Snyder; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Jenerou, Bernice Snyder, and Marie McCloud.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, at Messier Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, with Father Glenn Theoret officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 1.
