Emerald CC team earns recognition

MANISTIQUE – Small in numbers, big in results. Six members of the Manistique cross country team recently earned recognition at the annual fall meeting of the U.P. Cross Country Coaches Association. The meeting was held in Marquette near the end of October.

In her freshman year, Holly Blowers earned “All-State” honors for the girls, along with seniors Tyler Pomeroy and Bryson Lawrence.

Darby Demers was named to the “All-U.P.” team, along with teammates Ryan Ramey and Robert Ayotte.

Sault Ste. Marie’s Parker Scott, who went undefeated, was the unanimous choice for “Male Runner of the Year” and Marquette’s Lindsey Rudden was selected as “Female Runner of the Year”.

Coach Laurie Lindstrom, now in her third season at the helm of the team, said she is very proud of the accomplishment.

“They have set the bar high and established a quality program through their hard work that should allow the Manistique cross country program many years of continued success,” she explained. “I will miss their spirit of fun and adventure as the seniors move on to future academic and athletic endeavors.”
