Eagles set Emeralds

MANISTIQUE – After winning the first round of matches against Gwinn to advance to district playoffs, the Lady Emerald volleyball team’s district title dream came to an end shortly afterward. On the road, Manistique dropped their match against Stephenson 3-1.

The Emeralds set the pace, winning game one 25-15. Unfortunately, a strong three-set performance from the Eagles ended the Emeralds’ volleyball season. Stephenson took the remaining three games (25-23, 25-20 and 25-20).

Despite the outcome, Coach Amy Nixon was proud of her team.

“We came out firing in set one, everything came together to give us a great start to the match,” she said. “We unfortunately didn’t receive the outcome we had worked so hard for, but I am proud of my team. They gave me all the heart and desire a coach could ask for.”
