Woodland Meadows sold to private buyer

MANISTIQUE – The Woodland Meadows Assisted Living Center has a new owner. Effective Oct. 31, ownership of the center was transferred the owner of two other area assisted living facilities.

According to a press release issued by Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, previous owner of the center, the Woodland Meadows Board of Trustees recently approved the sale to Missy Hinkson. The 8-year-old center had previously been a sister organization of SMH.

George Montgomery, SMH CEO, explained the sale would place the 21-unit facility into the hands of an experienced assisted living operator.

He added Hinkson plans to make additional investments in the building.

The sale is meant to allow hospital management focus on the new hospital and health clinic, which will be opening in prong of 2013, Montgomery noted.

Along with the transfer of ownership, Woodland Meadows will become a for-profit company, and is expected to bring tax revenue to the area, he added.
