Crushing defeat



The Emeralds’ 2012 season came to an end Friday night when their playoff dreams were crushed by the Calumet Copper Kings 45-0. Held to just 74 yards for the four quarters, the Emeralds’ opponents were able to rack up 332. Of that total, 221 were rushing and 111 in the air. The Kings extend their eighth consecutive playoff run to a district final Friday night at Negaunee. The Miners shot down Iron Mountain 20-0 for the qualification.
