Sheriff’s news and notes

Editor’s note: The Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Department makes weekly submissions, reporting news and activities from the office. Activities are generally broken down into those occurring in the jail and those in individual townships. Other information may include jail information, such as the number of bookings and average jail population. Not all activities are reported.

Sept. 20-28, 2012


During the reporting period the average daily population was 27.11 inmates. During the period, the highest count was 29, with the lowest being 26 inmates. There were three inmates booked into jail, while six were released. Of those booked into jail, all three were male, two of which were charged with felonies, while one was charged with misdemeanors. Currently there are 26 inmates housed in the jail, three of which are female.



During the reporting period 39 pieces of civil process were served throughout the county.


There were no jail incidents during the reporting period.


10/26/12: A report of slander was received.


The sheriff’s office had the following activity during the reporting period: four persons were fingerprinted for concealed pistol licenses and four gun registrations were completed.
