Seul Choix Pointe to host ‘Spooktacular’

MANISTIQUE – The Seul Choix Pointe Lighthouse will be holding its “Halloween Spooktacular” on Oct. 27. The event, which features a theater showing and bonfire, takes place from 7 – 11 p.m. at the lighthouse in Gulliver.

Visitors are encouraged to attend dressed in costume, and take part in the “True Lighthouse Hauntings” showing in the theater. Following the showing, a bonfire featuring “true” ghost stories will take place – weather permitting.

Cost to attend the event is $4 per adult and $1 for children 16 and under. All donations benefit the “Save the Tower” fundraiser sponsored by the Gulliver Historical Society.

The event comes on the heels of a recent visit from the Upper Peninsula Paranormal Research Society from Sault Ste. Marie. During their visit on Oct. 13, the group documented several paranormal incidents, which they will outline during a presentation at the Manistique Public Library on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.

MAS to close Friday for football playoffs

MANISTIQUE – Following the Michigan High School Athletic Association announcement that the Division 6 Manistique Emeralds will play the Calumet Copper Kings in Calumet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday for the high school football playoffs, Manistique Area Schools’ administration has cancelled school for that day.

This decision was made due to the 400 mile round trip to Calumet and a 10:30 a.m. departure for the players, cheerleaders, and coaches, as well as other staff members who want to support the team and leave prior to the end of school.

For more information about the football playoffs, contact Rob Ryan at (906) 341-4304.
