Harvest dinner to take place in Nahma

NAHMA – St. Andrew’s Catholic Church will hold its annual harvest dinner and bazaar Oct. 28, from noon to 3 p.m., at the Nahma Township Hall.

The centerpiece of the event will be a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. A bake sale and prize raffle is also planned.

The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. Children 5 and under will be admitted free.

Birthdays celebrated

MANISTIQUE – The Manistique Women’s Club helped celebrate three birthdays at Medicare on Oct. 17. Celebrants were Audrey Newborn, Steve Lawrence and Lois Kane.

The dining room was decorated in the Halloween motif and each honored guest received a handmade lap robe and a birthday card.

The November party honoring veterans is Nov. 14. Entertainment will be provided by Roger Beauchamp.

Animal shelter plans volunteer workshop

MANISTIQUE – For interested in the assisting homeless dogs and cats, the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter will hold a volunteer workshop on Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m.

The hour-long workshop will provide information on the care and attention provided to animals, the importance of dependability and trustworthiness, and how volunteers work with management and the shelter board of directors.

Responsibilities, goals, and the mission of the shelter will also be addressed.
