Pomeroy retains title

MANISTIQUE – With adverse weather conditions making the course a challenge in itself, Emerald cross country stand out Tyler Pomeroy claimed the individual boy’s Mid-Peninsula Conference title on Oct. 11, in Negaunee. A senior, Pomeroy was looking to repeat his 2011 title in the 3.1-mile competition.

Pomeroy won the event with a time of 18:07, just seconds over Matt Moilanen, of Gwinn, who finished in 18:14.

Bryson Lawrence took the fifth medal slot, with a time of 18:47. Taking 11th was Ryan Ramey with 19:16.

In the girls’ division, Wyleen Kniola of Negaunee took the top spot with her time of 21:12. Emerald freshman Holly Blowers finished in third with a time of 22:28.

The Emeralds will travel to Munising on Saturday to compete in the U.P. Finals.
