Dig for a cure

MANISTIQUE – The Richard Bonifas Gymnasium at Manistique High School will be “Tye dyed pink” Oct. 25, for the annual “Dig for a Cure” volleyball fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The Manistique Emeralds’ varsity and JV volleyball teams will compete against the Big Bay de Noc Black Bears with action slated to start at 6 p.m.

With both teams and spectators wearing pink, proceeds from the event will be donated to the local breast cancer support and outreach group, Shirley’s Angels. Tshirts will be available at the game for just $12.

All breast cancer survivors will be given free admission to the game.

Beside watching great rivalry volleyball action on the court, spectators will have the opportunity to purchase breast cancer awareness items outside the gym, in the hallway. Organizers will also be holding a “pink” bake sale and 50/50 raffle.

Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase from home party vendors that have donated items. Those participating include: Miche Bags, Scentsy, Tupperware, Studio 4150 (jewelry), Mary Kay Cosmetics and Tastefully Simple.

Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital will be on site with a breast cancer information table.
