Diabetes workshop to take place on Oct. 24

MANISTIQUE – A diabetes self-management workshop will be offered at the Manistique Senior Center beginning on Oct. 24. The Diabetes workshop is a six-week workshop designed to provide the skills and tools needed by people living with Type II diabetes to improve their health and manage their symptoms. Topics include: meal planning, physical activity, symptoms of diabetes, stress, managing fatigue and emotional problems, medications, and working with health care providers.

The class will meet on Wednesday mornings at the Manistique Senior Center, 9 – 11:30 a.m. until Nov. 28. Class sizes are limited and preregistration is required. Family and caregivers are welcome. Garden task force to hold ‘After Hours’

GARDEN – The Garden Peninsula Economic Task Force will hold an “After Hours” community business meeting Oct. 18. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Garden Town Hall.

The meeting will highlight the opportunities the taskforce is creating and will give the public a chance to submit their ideas for economic improvement.

Annual fall bingo will take place in Garden

GARDEN – St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Garden will hold its annual fall bingo on Nov. 2, at the Garden Community Building.

Doors for the event will open at 6 p.m. and bingo will get underway at 7 p.m.

Refreshments will be available.
