Passino earns award
FORT CUSTER, Mich. – Former Manistique resident Matthew J. Passino was recently presented the Federal Legion of Merit Award – the nation’s sixth highest honor. The award was established in 1942 under the executive order of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in order to recognize exceptional performance of outstanding service and achievement.
In a Sept. 8 ceremony, Master Sgt. Passino was honored by his most recent commanding officer. He currently lives in Battle Creek, Mich., employed at the Federal Center located there. He is one of four sons of Richard Passino, of Manistique.
