After an eight year absence, the Great Lakes Cup has been resurrected from the trophy cabinet. The award was established as a traveling trophy between Manistique and Newberry for regular season games by Creighton Ford and Rahilly Motors Co. Presented to Manistique in 1999 and 2001, Newberry took it for 2000, 2002 and 2003. Since 2003, it has been sitting dormant due to scheduling changes between schools. With the resurrection, there has also been a name change – going forward, it will be known as the Ford Cup, sponsored by Chuck Renze Ford, LLC and Rahilly Motors Co. With their 28-0 win Friday night, Manistique will add it to their athletic achievements for 2012. From left to right are varsity team captains Max Nelson, Mat Gonzalez, Kenner Broullire and Jared Edwards.
