Garth R. Jacobson
Garth R. Jacobson, 66, of Manistique, Mich., died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.
He was born Jan. 14, 1946, in Curtis, Mich., the son of Arnold and Maude (Effie) Jacobson and was a graduate of Newberry High School in Newberry, Mich. He later continued his education at Central Michigan University and received a degree in chemistry.
During the Vietnam War, Garth served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal.
Following military service, he was employed as a chemist at Dow
Chemical in Midland, Mich.
He was a member of the
Curtis Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.
Garth is survived by his daughter, Andrea Jacobson of Apex, N.C.; grandson, Jacob Horton of Apex; sister, Beth Lewis of Kalamazoo, Mich.; along with nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors were held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5, at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Mich.
