Manistique came out strong taking the first set 25-13, but from there it was all Iron Mountain. Shaking off the effects of their loss the Mountaineers went on to take the next three sets 25-14, 25-17 and 25-22.

“We had a great warm-up and couldn’t have been more ready to play,” Coach Amy Nixon said.

“We layed well in the first, kept fighting, but struggled from there. I’m proud of the girls for playing hard and keeping their enthusiasm up, the loss wasn’t for a lack of effort,” Nixon added.

Manistique hit the road Wednesday (after press time)to take on Westwood and Negaunee next Monday.
