Betty was born on Nov. 2, 1928, in Manistique, Mich., the daughter of William and Leola Tennyson.
A graduate of Manistique High School, she married Don Lee in 1946. Their home in Mueller Township was always open and welcoming to all family and friends. Don passed away in 1969.
After the death of her husband Don, Betty attended beautician school in Escanaba and spent many years as a hairdresser.
She married Truman Zook in 1982 and they enjoyed traveling across the country and visiting with all of their children and grandchildren. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Betty was an accomplished seamstress and made wedding dresses for family and friends. She loved to quilt and all her children and grandchildren were blessed with a personal quilt. Her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She was always found playing with them during family gatherings. Betty was an avid reader especially enjoying the Louis La’mour book series. She passed that love of reading to her children.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Donald “Skip” (Jackie
Jensen), Robert (Jan Creeden) and Neil (Elda Orta); daughter, Deborah Swartz; 10 grandchildren: Don Lee, Bethany Richardson, Christy Camren, Jennifer Swartz, Wendy Swartz, Derek Lee, Kara Lee, Neil Lee, Bryan Lee, and Nicki Orta; 10 great- grandchildren: Mason Camren, Jarin Camren, Katie Camren, Jaimie Lee, Samantha Lee, Cody Kiltz, Caylee Kiltz, Gracie Swartz, Timothy Swartz, and Matthew Orta. All of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren live in Arizona.
Her brothers William Tennyson and Robert Tennyson also survive her. Her brother James Tennyson preceded her in death.
