RSVP volunteers will be honored at event

MANISTIQUE – The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of the Menominee, Delta, Schoolcraft Community Action Agency will honor RSVP volunteers on Sept. 18 at the Comfort Inn in Manistique.

All volunteers and station supervisors are invited to a “Recognition Luncheon”, in which volunteers will be provided with certificates and “50 Hour” pins.

The event is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, Office of Services to the Aging.

Motorists warned of Century Ride bikers

GLADSTONE – Residents and visitors are reminded that, on Sept. 16, the Delta County Century Ride will boast nearly 500 bicycle riders traveling Delta County roads throughout the day.

The route begins at the Gladstone High School on M-35 at 8 a.m. Riders will be in the vicinity of west Gladstone and the Days River area, near the Gladstone Sports Park and Flat Rock. The route includes various county roads between Flat Rock and Schaffer, and ends at the Gladstone High School in early afternoon.

Organizers encourage drivers to slow down and give bicyclists enough room to ride.

Last poultry, livestock swap set for Sept. 15

TRENARY – The Great Northern Poultry and Livestock Connection will hold the final swap of the 2012 season on Sept. 15. The swap will be held in Holmquest Feed Mill, in Trenary, from 10 a.m. – 1p.m.
