Rock Lions plan Labor Day event Art and music festival returns to Curtis park

ROCK – The Rock Lions Club will host the annual Labor Day Celebration on Sept. 1 in downtown Rock on M-35.

This year’s parade theme is “Deer Season” and begins at 10 a.m. Festivities will follow on the clubhouse grounds, and include: bingo, horseshoes, a flea market, children’s games and live music. Food and beverages will be available, along with a beer tent for the adults.

The annual raffle drawing will be held at 6 p.m. at the clubhouse.

The Labor Day Celebration event is the major fundraiser for the Rock Lions, a service organization that provides funding for charitable organizations and local needs. Call (906) 356-6203 to register for the parade.

CURTIS – The 13th annual “Art on the Lake Art and Music Festival” will be held on Sept. 1 in the Erickson Center Park in Curtis. This year’s event will include over 60 artists and crafters, live entertainment, a silent auction, food, beverages, children’s art tent and parade.

The children’s art tent will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the Children’s Parade at 1:45 p.m.

Live entertainment will feature Slave to Gravity from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Common Cents from 2 – 5 p.m.

Several food vendors and a beer and wine tent will be open all day.

This year’s silent auction project will feature handcrafted canoe paddles showcasing the creative talent of many area residents.

The Manistique Lakes Lions Club in Curtis will serve an allyou can-eat breakfast from 7 – 11 a.m. in the Community Building. The proceeds of the breakfast will benefit the Erickson Center for the Arts.
