School to host open house, introduce new teachers

MANISTIQUE – St. Francis de Sales Catholic School will host an Open House on Aug. 30 from noon to 6 p.m. The event will be an opportunity for new and returning students and their parents to meet the teachers for the 2012-13 school year.

Refreshments will be served, and students can bring their school supplies and pick up their family packets. School begins on Sept. 5.

Among the new teachers this year at SFdS is Amberly Segerstrom, the new kindergarten teacher; Valynda Mackie who joins Mrs. Erickson as one of the school’s two third grade teachers; and Jon Bintner, the new athletic director, physical education teacher, technology teacher, and also the new Accelerated Math coordinator.

“All of our teachers believe in our mission and the foundation that we’re giving these children,” said Father Glenn Theoret of SFdS. “The foundation they received is important to their lives.”

St. Francis de Sales School is now accepting new students for the 2012-13 school year. For more information, call the school office at (906) 341-5512, or visit www.sfdsraiders.com.
