Triathlon time: Swim, bike, run

MANISTIQUE - The City of Manistique will hold the Paul Bunyan Trathlon on Aug. 25. The first ever sprint triathlon is a fund raiser to maintain and improve Central Park.

Athletes were invited to challenge their own limits or teams of two or three were welcome to participate.

The race will include a 400 yard swim in Quarry Lake, 15 mile bike ride and 5K run.

The event will start and finish at Central Park near the north entrance.

Check-in will open at 7:30 a.m. Organizers have asked participants to please be on time to ensure a timely star of the race. The Tannery Road will be closed from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday. The event should not however restrict residents from leaving their home for any errands they might have during this time period.

Although all athletes are instructed to watch traffic they are in a race and are in the competitive zone, please be cautious when traveling in the race routes.

Tooting horns in support, shouting encouragement and applause are all welcome and appreciated by the athletes.

Your one small jester of support could come at the opportunity they need it most.
